Thucydides Dramaticus
Itinerary
Students are expected to arrive in Athens by Monday, June 25, for the program’s welcome reception and orientation, which will take place at HERC in the early afternoon.
“Thucydides Dramaticus: The Theater of War” will continue for two weeks in Athens, with classes, meals, and lodging based in the Plaka neighborhood, the city’s charming historic center.
The group then moves on to Messenia in the Peloponnese, with Messene used as a base for day trips to archaeological sites and museums. The final week of “Thucydides Dramaticus” will focus on preparation for the public performance at the Ancient Theater of Messene on July 14.
Messene is located very close to Kalamata, a popular port city students can explore after the program. Kalamata has an international airport with flights across Europe and a major bus station with connections across Greece.
